Complex Regional Pain Syndrome Diagnostic Tests
MRI, fMRI, PET, and SPECT
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), functional MRI (fMRI), positron emission tomography (PET), and single photon emission tomography (SPECT) are among a group of non-invasive imaging techniques that measure biological activity throughout the body (14). While MRIs and fMRIs use magnetic fields and radio waves to produce two- or three- dimensional images without radioactive tracers, PET and SPECT techniques measure concentrations of radioactive tracers to produce two- or three- dimensional images (14).
